Concrete for the User
So, you're wondering why should I, customers,
rather using it yourself? Answer the next few questions for yourself and see if it
makes sense.
1. How many yards of short load concrete do I get in
a years time?
Normally, a Ready Mix Company will sell any amount of concrete
you would like to buy. However, if it is an amount under the minimum load, they will
charge you a "short load" charge. These charges can range from nothing,
to over $200.00 depending on where you are throughout the country. If you use 100
short loads, you can potentially pay $20,000.00 for the delivery alone. Not to mention
the price you are paying for the concrete itself. You must pass these costs on to
your customers which inflates the price of the services you offer. Ask your Ready
Mix supplier to break out the cost of a yard of concrete delivered to you.
2. Do my employees spend large amounts of time waiting
for Ready Mix to be delivered?
The reason Ready Mix companies charge these high delivery
prices is to pay for the trucks to operate. These delivery charges are an attempt
to break even on the delivery. Therefore, the Ready Mix companies would rather put
the large pours ahead of you because they are making money on those, and in some
cases, losing money on short pours. So, you may have to wait until the large pours
are done for your Ready Mix.
3. Am I losing bids because my prices are too high?
Concrete is very inexpensive to create. The national average
according to our records is between $30.00 and $40.00 to mix a yard of concrete.
If you are paying $65.00 per yard of ready mix, and $100.00 for delievery, your potential
savings could be $13,000.00 using $35.00 as the cost in your area. Use the following
formulas to figure it out.
"DC" = Delivery Charge
Savings on Delivery = DC x Number of short loads bought.
Savings on Concrete = (DC + Concrete - COST) x (Number
of short loads bought)
4. What will the Ready Mix companies say?
In most areas, we have found that the Ready Mix companies
would rather not be involved with short loads because the delivery charges don't
pay for the truck and operator to go out on the delivery. Most will welcome this
new system and even send short loads to you. If we do a market study for you, these
are questions we will ask your local RM supplier.
4. How can U-Cart help me?
U-Cart has done hundreds of market studies across the USA
and Canada to figure out the costs of concrete, the costs of delivery, and the need
for Trailered Ready Mix in those areas. We have them available, and if you happen
to be in an area in which we have not done one, we will research and get one done
for you. All of this is at NO CHARGE to you.
With a U-Cart System, you can mix your concrete when
YOU need it, at a cost sometimes HALF of what a ready mix company will
charge you, and with no delivery charges. You can even supply concrete to your fellow
contractors to supplement the cost of the system. Another idea is for more than one
contractor to go in on the system. No matter what your needs, U-Cart can help
you save money.
